IGP Coteaux De Bessilles Chardonnay 2015, Domaine Felines Jordan, Languedoc, France
The Languedoc Roussillon area of France was until relatively recently more commonly known for churning out the sort of the stomach rot table wines that made up a large proportion of France's 50 bottles per person per year and that were often bulked up with wines from Algeria. How times have changed. The region is now one of the wine making hotbeds in France, helped by the fact the vineyard prices remain much lower than the rest of the country.
To wit this awesome value non oaked Chardonnay made by the talented Claude Jordan. This is so stylish it comes as a surprise! Soft and silky, refreshing and medium bodied it offers, creamy flavours of oranges and apples, melon, hazelnuts, and acacia honey. Nicely dry but also juicy on the finish, it's a great mariage with a wide variety of simple dishes or brilliant on its own!
