Alberto Graci Etna Rosso Quota 600 2009, Sicily, Italy
Hailing from the Arcurìa vineyard on the northeastern slopes of Etna at Passopisciaro between 600 and nearly 700 metres above sea level, this wine is made from the indigenous SIcilian Nerello Mascalese with a yield of just 30 hectolitres per hectare. It has been made with natural yeasts and no temperature control. Pale cherry red colour. Fresh, bright cherry fruit nose with a distinctive savoury, slightly rubbery, smoky edge to it. The palate is bright, elegant and expressive with fine cherry fruit and some spicy notes.
